"...horrid life springs, and the dull scavengers of earth wax crafty to vex it and swell monstrous to plague it. Great holes secretly digged where earth's pores ought to suffice, and things have learnt to walk that ought to crawl." - The Mad Arab Abdul Alhazared (Necronomicon)

IN PRIMEVAL MIST, beasts more natural in the realm of nightmares, forbidden organisms, myths that were believed to only be of ancient babbling - VAMPYRES have always been among the most demonic occurrences in this world's history. It is forbidden that we should know of a prehistoric event called the Dawn of Blood (aka The Birth of Red Feast).

As early as mankind began to develop writing systems, the existence of vampyres have been recorded. Indeed, the earliest documentation of vampyres have described the creatures in multiple forms, varying by region and time - from nightmarish reptilian corpses wandering the ancient forests in search of blood, to sophisticated clans of bloodsuckers and cannibals, whose place in the food chain instigated war between these clans. After ages of war, it has been said that a great underground empire of vampyres was formed, to allow mankind to increase in numbers, and thus allow a consistent food supply.

In one gruesome episode of recorded vampyric history, there was the occurrence of a creature known as Vissius. This particular monster has been referred to as having originated somewhere far and vast in the prehistory of civilization.

Taking on a more civilized form after mingling with Victorian era clans, the one called Vissius has also been documented under the name Alexander Vissius.

Alexander Vissius was a most fearsome being. The monster not only drained the blood of his victims, but enjoyed devouring their flesh. His monstrous form when feeding was a most grotesque sight, and appalling even to his own kind. The monster known as Alexander Vissius would soon take on a new, infamous title: MEATHEAD.

And mauled corpses left by Meathead were distinct, and the terror of Meathead was known throughout.

As time went on, it would become known that Meathead had begun to participate necrotic rite developed within the vampyric credence. Indeed, it was the task of one baring the mark of 'M.' Through this rite, a diabolical gateway would be open to release morbid deities, of which we cannot yet begin to understand, nor do we have names in our language for these terrible things.

Part of this horrific ritual involved the slaughter of a human fetus and the ritualistic devourment of 666, each carcass left mangled and marked...

There is no doubt, my pitiful readers, that when the night belongs to them, there is nowhere for you to run!
